I paint people. Their swagger, the way they sit, a quirky look, an attitude. Those are the things I can't resist. They entertain me and I want to paint it. It's a connection for me to how we are so alike. A thread that ties us all together just trying to make sense of this world, but seeing the light in each other.
In my self portraits, I am asking questions or revealing an awareness that comes to me in a meditative moment. These paintings show parts of my journey toward happiness, toward healing my mind and an acceptance of my True Self.
In clay, I continue to draw and paint on the forms that I hand-build using underglazes and underglaze pencils. Recently, I have been screen printing images of my paintings or drawings onto slabs of clay that become tiles. Clay is a very free form medium for me.
